The Map

An ancient map spread on a table shows three marked locations connected by roads through dangerous terrain, each glowing with a different colored light.

The maps are spread across the table.

Three routes. Three destinations. Three relics that might—might—give you a chance against an immortal monster.

Your ally points to each in turn.

*The Ashen Wastes – East*
“The Ruins of the First Library. Before Eldermoor existed, Seraphine gathered knowledge here. They say the wastes were green once, until a fire consumed everything. The library sank into the earth, but it wasn’t destroyed. Scholars have searched for it for centuries.”

“What happened to them?” Neve asks.

“They didn’t come back.”

*Goldport – South*
“The old trade city. It was powerful once, before Eldermoor rose. Now it’s a haven for merchants, smugglers, and those who don’t ask too many questions. The Sunken Vaults are beneath the harbor—flooded chambers from the city’s first founding. Aldric hid his fortune there before he… before he died.”

“Is it still flooded?”

“Parts of it. The local thieves’ guild controls access. We’d need to negotiate—or find another way in.”

*The Thornwood – North*
“The oldest forest in the realm. Trees that were ancient when the founders were young. At its heart is the Grove—Thornwen’s sanctuary, where she lived before she helped build Eldermoor. The forest doesn’t want visitors. It has ways of turning people around, making them walk in circles until they starve.”

“Cheerful.”

“It’s said the forest recognizes those with pure intentions. But it’s also said no one has reached the Grove in two hundred years.”

You study the maps. Each path has its dangers. Each offers a different kind of challenge.

But you can only start with one.
